Samaul and Lilith, Odin and Freya, Female and Male, dark and light, neither has meaning without the other, but through their eternal interplay the universe is born.
Zoe and Jon's wedding was at Efil Doog in Akatarawa, Good Life written backwards, and apt name for such a beautiful spot, but there was nothing backwards about the wedding. Jon and the groomsmen stayed in the Airbnb onsite the night before which gave them time to enjoy a quite beer before setting out the seating for the ceremony that Jon and friends had made from recycled rimu hardwood from their own villa. The bride and bridesmaids stayed at the couple's house in Upper Hutt to prepare with Jaymie Javis Makeup Artist and Dollhouse Do and Dreadfully Wild Dreadlocks all chipping in to prepare everyone. And when a couple has six children as well, there is a lot to prepare. Jon's daughters Paige, Shauny and Emma wore red, and looked stunning and proud to walk their father down the aisle, because everyone deserves to make an entrance. Then the rumble of two v8 chevs could be heard (1934 and 1957) and the bride had arrived, dressed all in black and carrying a beautiful (if dark themed) bouquet from Budflorist, Jon's smile was inescapable.
I said a few words, Then Jon and Zoe said some amazing heartfelt words they wrote themselves, for themselves to each other. I bound their hands with a cord that was made just for them. They toasted each other with blood (or was it?), with silver goblets that come together to make a single heart, just like Zoe and Jon. Liam and Cain came forward and passed the rings to their parents as sister Scarlett (in Black not Red) also looked on.
The whole family then came together and poured their own sand into a flask, each person bringing their own unique colour, with their own thoughts and feelings and memories, now those are all combined together, with Zoe and Jon's at the top, holding down the fort, covering, caring and joining together with the childrens sand also, now the whole family are inseparable and joined.
The only thing left then, was the official handshake. "Jon, you may now shake the bride's hand"
Eventually I let them kiss. Job done Awesome day.
Aesir and Vanir, first known in the North Frigga and Odin, Thor and Sif, Freya and Freyr, Balder and Nanna, Disir and Alfar, bless this wedding.
